FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State hockey team cruised to a 6-2 victory over Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
The Devils wasted no time in taking the lead. Just 29 seconds in,
Alex Morton scored his seventh goal of the season.
Bryan Ross and
Chris de Bruyn assisted.
The Devils upped the lead to 2-0 at the 6:41 mark. Ross scored his eighth goal on the year on assists from
Steve Rizer and
Jordan Oye.
The assist marked the 100th career point for Oye. He became the 15th Devil to reach that milestone.
Franklin Pierce cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal from Adam Dallaire at 13:31 in the first. Brendan McCarron assisted.
The Devils opened up the second period with another pair of quick goals. Oye and de Bruyn each scored in the first minute to give the Devils a 4-1 edge.
A pair of power plays later in the period made it 6-1 in favor of the Blue Devils. Morton and
Mitch Kulikoski each connected.
The third period saw the Ravens score once, as Tom Mills used helpers from Justin Adams and Sean Woodring to make a 6-2 game.
Ross finished the game with five points on one goal and four assists. Morton connected for two goals and two assists. de Bruyn had three points on a goal and two assists.
For the Ravens (3-14), goaltender Ben Siok recorded 24 saves.
Mark Friesen made 27 saves on 29 shots for Fredonia State.
The Devils (8-9) get back into conference play next weekend as Cortland and Oswego come to Steele Hall.
