BOX SCORECORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's volleyball team moved to 4-0 in the SUNYAC with a convincing 3-0 victory over Oneonta on Friday. The Devils won the sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-20.
Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga, N.Y. / West Seneca East)Â led the offense with 13 kills.
Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker)Â had six kills and
Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. / St. Mary's) collected four of the Devils' nine service aces.
Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena)Â had 30 assists.
Head coach Geoof Braun pointed out the solid offensive play of DiChristopher. "Jess gave us a strong advantage at the net. Oneonta did a good job of blocking the left side, but we were able to score everywhere else."
Hokaj led the defensive effort with 24 digs.
Overall, the Devils improved to 16-7. Saturday, the team takes on host Cortland, then SUNY Potsdam, to finish the second round of Pool Play. Fredonia plays host to the final round of Pool Play next weekend in Dods Hall
