CANTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's hockey team claimed its first win of the season with a 6-4 victory at Canton on Friday evening.
Antoine St. Onge scored twice, and the Devils had five other goal scorers. They also scored a variety of ways with a power play, an empty netter, and a short-handed goal.
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 38 saves for the victory as the Devils now stand at 1-9-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the SUNYAC.
Canton worked its way to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period. The Devils then found their offensive groove, scoring five of the next six goals to go up 5-3 by the 12:32 mark of the third period.
Canton made it a one-goal game when Spencer Sasenbury scored with five minutes left to play. The Roos would eventually pull their goalie and
Luke Morris would make them pay, hammering home an empty netter with 1:21 left to go.
Owen Cross,
Keenan McNeill (shorthanded), and
Alexis Gonzalez-Lambert (power play) also had goals for the Devils.
Cash Anderson had three assists and McNeill added a pair of apples.
Canton used four different goal scorers, with Nico Schoner having a goal and an assist. Kelson Hooper made 24 saves for the Roos, now 5-8 and 1-5 in the SUNYAC.
The Devils head to Potsdam for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday.
