Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Canton hops past Devils, 5-2

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Canton men's hockey team scored three times in the first period and that would be enough, as they  outskated Fredonia State to the tune of a 5-3 victory on Saturday. Three of the five Canton goals came via the power play.

Fredonia State (4-18-2 / 4-11-1 SUNYAC) got its two goals from Gavin Bloder (in the second period) and Luke Morris (third). Goaltender Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 29 saves. The Devils were 0-1 on power plays.

Canton made hay in the first period with goals from Spencer Sasenbury (PP, 4:52), Jordan Prepszl (16:35), and Logan Kelly (PP, 18:48) to go up 3-0.

Bloder's goal came late in the second, at the 18:58 mark, and Luke Morris connected midway through the third period to make it a 3-2 game.

Canton responded with a power play from Colton Alexander, then Sasenbury's second goal of the game. Trey Miller made 12 saves in goal for the Roos. They improve to 11-11-1 and 7-8-1 in the conference.

The Devils recognized four players on Senior Night: Garrison Gagnon, Ethan Pitzman, Jack Schlifke, and Barbeau.

The Devils wrap up the regular season next weekend with games at Oswego and Hobart.
