PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- After falling 2-1 in overtime to Skidmore the night before, the Fredonia State men's hockey team suffered a 4-3 OT defeat at the hands of Plattsburgh on Saturday. The Devils scored twice in the third period to tie the game at 3-all, with their game-tying goal coming with 33 seconds left to play in regulation.
Plattsburgh would get the game-winning goal ith 9.6 seconds left in the overtime. It was the second time this season that the Cardinals defeated the Devils 4-3 in an overtime game.
The Devils once again relied on goalie
Charles-Anthony Barbeau to keep them in the game. Barbeau made 49 saves after stopping 48 shots the night before.
After two periods of play, Plattsburgh held a 3-1 lead, with the Devils' only goal coming from
Mathieu Fournier.
Just 43 seconds into the third, Fredonia State's
Luke Morris scored to make it a 3-2 contest.
Owen Cross would tie the game at 3-3 late in the third.
The Cardinal's Quinn Taveras was credited with the game winner to improve Plattsburgh's record to 12-10 and 8-7 in the SUNYAC.
The Cardinals had four different goal scorers -- Taveras, Shane Bondy, Colin Callahan, and Gabriel Filion. Beau Lane had 28 saves for the win in goal.
The Devils (3-17-1 / 3-10-1 SUNYAC) are at home next weekend vs. Potsdam and Canton. Friday will be the annual Pink the Rink game.
