Final day ends with pair of losses

CLERMONT, Fla. — Fredonia State wrapped up its final day in Florida on Thursday with a pair of losses, falling to UW–Stevens Point and Trinity (Conn.) to finish the trip 3–9 as the Blue Devils now turn their attention to the northern portion of the schedule.

The opener against Stevens Point became a pitcher's duel the Blue Devils couldn't break into. Fredonia was held hitless in a 4–0 defeat, managing just one baserunner after the first inning. Madison Lowe reached on a two‑out walk in the opening frame, but that would be the only traffic the Blue Devils created.

Kendall Phillips kept Fredonia in range throughout with five innings, five hits, four runs — only two earned — and three strikeouts. Stevens Point's scoring came in short bursts, but the story was the combined no‑hitter that kept Fredonia off the board.

The afternoon game against Trinity opened with Fredonia's best offensive inning of the week. Lily Foglia singled and stole second before Madison Lowe launched a two‑run homer to center. Deanna North singled, Mia Eickhoff doubled, and Kate Kenny lined a two‑run single to right as the Blue Devils surged to a 5–2 lead. A throwing error added a fifth run and capped a six‑hit inning.

But the early momentum didn't hold. Fredonia was kept off the board the rest of the way, and Trinity capitalized on defensive miscues to climb back and eventually pull away. The Blue Devils committed five errors, including four in the decisive fifth inning, as Trinity pushed across nine runs to end the game in five innings, 14–5.
